 "Onkyo cassette recorder player" 2010-02-09

I rec'd the recorder very promptly and it works well. I don't like the counter as it does not tell you the minutes of recording or playback it is something else that has no meaning .

 "Good tape deck" 2009-12-06

My Onkyo TARW255 cassette decks (I bought two of them) sound great and record great. I have only had them a few months but so far they have worked great. I bought two of them because I don't want to run out of cassette decks if they quit making them like they quit making 8-track players in the early 1980's. I have a large collection of cassette tapes which I intend to keep listening to for many years. I also have CDs, but in my opinion cassette tapes sound almost as good as CD audio (and better than MP3 audio) so I am in no hurry to replace all of my cassette tapes with CDs.

 "Records Nicely, but , it's noisey!" 2009-09-11
By DannyRay (San Rafael)
I had a Teac recorder once that never made a sound when I pushed the record button. I have to say this one (Onkyo TARW255)is nothing like that one! This thing sounds like something is going to break inside. It clicks, jumps, and bumps like it's slipping or something. Other than that it records very nicely. It takes a while to get used to the eject button being on top of the cassette window. I'm used to all the buttons being on the bottom. It's hard to read the buttons too because they are not backlit or painted brightly. The unit also has a "standby" red light when you turn the unit off. It uses about 7W when it's in this mode. So if you don't want to use extra electricity or be bothered by a red light then you'll have to unplug it. No headphone or earphone jack. No remote but has a connector to connect a Onkyo stereo amp for use with that remote. It's made in Malaysia not Japan. Don't know how long it will last. Get an extended warranty when you buy it. Vann's has it online for less and a warranty for like $20 for 3 years.

"DeckA doesn't work after a few monthes" 2009-07-08
By Jaewoo Park (Houston, TX, USA)
I bought it, haven't used often. Yesterday, I found that the Deck "A" doesn't work, keep stopping. Now, it's over return period, don't want to spend shipping cost, just using the Deck "B" only. But, not sure when this deck is also going wrong. Very Bad player! don't buy.

 "review by MS" 2009-04-05

The tape counter seems to count in seconds and this is not very standard for these systems. The unit is nice for the price but I would have liked to see an ONKYO " INTEGRA" line quality.
